The K.K.E.C.S. Institute of Management is the first management Institute among the private colleges in Bangalore.

BANGALORE UNIVERSITY

Bangalore University is one of the biggest Universities in Asia with over 400 affiliated colleges. It has witnessed a rapid growth in the number of colleges and the students in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Education, Law, Engineering, Technology and Communication. There are over 2.5 lakhs students studying in 45 departments.The University has two P.G. Centres at Tumkur and Kolar and maintains four colleges viz., The Central College, University Visveshwariah College of Engineering, University College of Physical Education and University Law College. The University has two campuses one in the city and other at Jnana Bharathi. It has jurisdiction over Bangaore Urban,Bangalore Rural , Kolar and Tumkur Districts. The Bangaore University, inspite of its quantitative growth over the years, is trying to mould itself as a real centre for higher learning, reasearch and to gear up for professionalism. ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION (AICTE)

AICTE was set by an Act of Parliament, with a view to develop and promote Technical Education in the country.The council has to take all such steps which it may think fit for ensuring co-ordinated and integrated development of technical education and maintenance of standards in the country. Criteria and procedures for admission to degree and diploma programs and the duration of such programs greatly influence the quality of the graduates.. Its functions include promotion of excellence to ensure equal opportunity for applicants based on their merit and to facilitate mobility between States and institutions.

The grant of approval by the AICTE for starting new institutions and introduction of new programmes is stipulated in clause 10k of the AICTE Act. The Council has made regulations/ guidelines for admissions to professional colleges. All institutions, courses and number of seats are scrutinized and approved by AICTE as per the regulations/guidelines and a nation-wide list of approved institutions/programmes is published every year. The council, with the help of Task Forces, also accords approval to various Institutions/Programmes in the country for a given period subject to fulfillment of specific conditions

With the existence of AICTE now it is possible to maintain high quality of education and uniformity in syllabus. Admissions are made on the basis of guidelines issued by AICTE. Further because of the regulation formulated by AICTE now it is possible for the Technical Institutions which come under AICTE preview to manage efficiently.Thanks to AICTE, there is no scope for inefficient unit to survive. The K.K.E.C.S Institutes maintain standards, norms and guidelines prescribed by the AICTE.

EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS OF INDIA LTD., (Ed. CIL) --
A Government Of India Enterprise

The Ed. CIL is established for the purpose of admitting students from foreign countries, particularly from developing countries. Ed CIL with assistance from the embassies of various countries helps foreign students for their admissions in different colleges affiliated to different universities in the country. Students who come from foreign countries for their studies in India are selected by their respective countries and are provided scholarships. The R.K. Institute of Management & Computer Science, one of the institutes in Bangalore, has been approved by the Ed-CIL, for admitting students of foreign origin, based on the availability of infrastructure and quality of education in the Institution.

RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES (RGUHS)

The state of Karnataka had taken a bold and innovative decision to establish a University of Health Sciences as fas back as 1976. The phenomenal increase in the number of institutions and students admitted to various courses of medical and allied health sciences warranted the need to regulate, monitor and standardize the curricula as well as the evaluation system. The products of medical and health science professional education were to meet the health science professional education were to meet the societal needs for the better health care. The care. The Central Council of Health has also recommended to establish Health Universities in all the States in the country. Keeping this in background the Government of Karnataka passed an Act in 1994 to establish the University of Health Sciences and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has been established. Thus a long cherished dream of having all the institutions of health sciences under one roof became a reality with the functioning of this University from 1st June 1996. The University is presently located at 4th Block, Jayanagar, Bangalore – 560041.

The objective of the University is to upgrade standards of teaching, research, publication and dissemination of knowledge in all branches of health sciences and bring all the health institutions under one umbrella to standardize and upgrade the standards of health science education.

The University was initially set up as an affiliating body and in a phased programme, it is envisaged to develop a campus of its own for advanced teaching, training and research in specialised fields of Health Sciences. The university has established a Curriculum Development Cell, Research Center and Library & Information Center for the development of knowledge in the field of health sciences and to promote qualitative education and standards. Most importantly the university is striving to be a facilitator of high quality health sciences education rather than just remaining as an affiliating and examining body.

In the state of Karnataka there are 242 colleges conducting undergraduate courses, 68 institutions conducting post graduation courses and 6 institutions offering super speciality courses in the field of health sciences such as medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, ayurveda, homeopathy, unani and paramedical under the jurisdiction of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. About 13000 undergraduate, 2000 post graduate students and 30 Super Specialty students are admitted in different faculties of health sciences from this university every year. About 10,000 teachers are engaged in different faculties of health sciences in this university.

Computerization has been taken up on a top priority basis in the university right from its inception for the transparent administration of examination system and academic activities. The necessary databases for students, teachers and institutions have been developed for all the affiliated institutions of this university for effective management information system. The in house software has been developed for UG, PG and Super Specialty courses offered by this University. New software has also been developed for PG Entrance test, which has been implemented successfully recently.

Ph.D programs in the faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy have been introduced in the year 1999-2000. The promotion of research activities in the form of organising workshops, symposiums, training programs, continuing education programs are being done for the teachers in different faculties of of health sciences from time to time. The university has brought out good number of publications in the field of health sciences and made it available in the department of prasarnga.

PHARMACY COUNCIL OF INDIA (PCI)

The Pharmacy education and profession in India upto graduate level is regulated by the PCI, a statutory body governed by the provisions of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 passed by the Parliament. “An Act to regulate the profession of pharmacy. Whereas it is expedient to make better provision for the regulation of profession and practice of pharmacy and for the purpose to constitute Pharmacy council”. The PCI was constituted on 09-08-1949 under section 3 of the Pharmacy Act.

Objective

Regulation of the Pharmacy Education in the country for the purpose of registration as a pharmacist under the Pharmacy act.
Regulation of Profession and Practice of Pharmacy.
Qualification to registration as a Pharmacist.
The minimum qualification for registration as a Pharmacist is a pas in “Diploma course in Pharmacy” (D.Pharm) from an institution approved u/a 12 of the Act. D. Pharm is a two years course after 10+2 (Science academic stream) followed by 500 hours of practical training spread over a period of 3 months.
Degree course in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from an institution approved by the PCI u/s 12 of the Act. B. Pharm is a 4 years course after 10+2 (science academic stream).
Regulation of Pharmacy education under the Pharmacy Act.
By Prescribing minimum qualification for registration as a pharmacist. By prescribing norms to be fulfilled by the pharmacy institutions seeking approval for the purpose of registration as a Pharmacist. Uniform implementation of prescribed norms all over the country. Verification of the prescribed norms by inspecting pharmacy institutions. Granting approval or otherwise (withdrawal of approval/rejection of application) depending on the merits of the case.

NATIONAL COUNCIL OF TEACHER EDUCATION (NCTE)

The National Counicl of Teacher Education, in its previous status since 1973, was an advisory body for the Central and State Governments on all matters pertaining to teacher education, with its Secretariat in the Department of Teacher Education of the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCRET). Despite its commendable work in the academic fields, it could not perform essential regulatory functions, to ensure maintenance of standards in teachers education and preventing proliferation of substandard teacher education institutions. The National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986 and the Programme of Action thereunder, envisaged a National Council for Teacher Education with statutory status and necessary resources as a first step for overhauling the system of teacher education. The National Council for Teacher Education as a statutory body came into existence in pursuance of the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993 (No.73 of 1993) on the 17th August, 1995.

The main objective of NCTE is to achieve planned and coordinated development of the teacher education system throughout the country, the regulation and proper maintenance of Norms and Standards in the teacher education system and for matters connected therewith. The mandate given to the NCTE is very broad and covers the whole gamut of teacher education programme including research and training of persons for equipping them to teach at pre-primary, primary, secondary and senior secondary stages in schools, and non formal education, part-time education, adult education and distance (correspondance) education courses.

INDIAN NURSING COUNCIL (INC)

The Indian Nursing Council is a statutory body constituted under the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947. The Council is responsible for regulation and maintenance of a uniform standard of training for Nurses, Midwives, Auxilary Nurse-Midwives and Health Visitors. The Council prescribed the syllabus and regulations for various nursing courses.The inspection of Nursing Schools and Examination centres is done to maintain uniformity and the requisite standard of Nursing Education in the country

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

1. A citizen of India passed B.A/B.SC., degree examination of Banglore University or any university in India or abroad recognised as equivalent through 10+2+3 pattern of education obtaining 50% marks in aggregate of all the subjects is eligible for admission to B.Ed., Course provided;

a) He/She has studied at least any one of the following languages
(i) Kannada (ii) English (iii) Hindi (iv) Urdu (v) Marathi (vi) Sanskrit

b) Any two of the following Electives:

1.2 Minimum Marks for the purpose of eligibility in the case of SC/ST,Category-1 and physically handicapped Student shall be 45% in the aggregate of 3 years of the their degree course.

DURATION OF THE COURSE AND MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:

  1. The duration of study for B. Ed., semester course shall extend over a period of one academic year of two semesters. The duration of first semester shall be of 16 weeks and second semester shall be 18 weeks (204 working days)
  2. Minimum duration for practice teaching shall be of six weeks which excludes programmes like micro teaching, Simulated teaching and practice of communication skills.
  3. The college shall provide instruction in both Kannada and English mediums separately in core-subjects provided the total strength of students in such class is more than 40. However, English and / or Kannada shall be generally medium of instruction for content cum method of teaching school subjects.
  4. Student shall opt. English or Kannada medium for teaching practice irrespective of their medium of instruction Opted for theory papers in their colleges.
  5. Student shall opt either English or Kannada medium to write their 1st semester and 2nd semester examination irrespective of their medium selected for theory classes and teaching practice.

LIBRARY:

A rich and well stacked comprehensive library with a wide range of quality books, national and international magazines, periodicals, CD-Roms and subscriptions to a number of online journals. Students could also avail books, magazines, periodicals etc., on different subjects from the Bangalore University, GKVK, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, IIM-B, IISC-B, British Council, Bangalore Management Association and FKCCI libraries.

The library offers an atmosphere of learning through an exhaustive collection of learning materials. It houses more than 100000 books on Management, Computers, Life Science, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy & Journalism, interactive learning impressive collection of video cassettes, CD ROM's reference materials, reprints, projects reports, question papers on various subjects, magazine, newspapers, periodicals and National and International Journals. The Library is equipped with display units for current journals and magazines too. Arrangements for viewing video films on various subjects are also provided. The library functions throughout the year and offers a silent and disciplined learning atmosphere.This wide range of database resources which meets the needs of the students and academicians is managed by professionally qualified librarians

LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • The library will remain open from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on all working days throughout the year.
  • Every student who gets admission to the current academic year is eligible for regular library membership
  • Students will be given a borrower's card to borrow the books from the library
  • Students should always possess their identity card and should produce as and when demanded by the library staff.
  • Borrower's Card is not transferable.
  • Three books will be issued on the production of Borrower's card for a period of 7 days from the date of borrowing.
  • An over due charge of 50 paise per day will be levied on the students who fail to return the book within the due date.
  • Books meant for reference will not be issued.
  • Books may be renewed for a further period of one week if - a. No other reader has applied for the same book.
    b. Not more than two continuous renewals have been made for the same book.
  • Students can avail books based on waiting list
  • Borrower shall be held responsible for any damages done to the books while in his/her possession. Students should check carefully the book issued to them, if any damage is found, the same should be brought to the notice of the library staff in writing. No complaints about the book will be entertained at the time of returning.
  • No part of the book should be disfigured or damaged. No marking should be done on the pages. Borrowers indulging in such practices will be liable for the payment equal to the cost of the book in addition to the replacement of a new book.

In case of loss of Borrower's Card, Rs.10/- shall be charged for re-issue of a new card.

COMPUTER LAB

To keep pace with emerging technology the K.K.E.C.S.- Institutes have advanced state-of-the-art air conditioned computer laboratory, considered to be the best and certainly the most modern among the colleges of Bangalore. The lab has network facilities, connecting the latest Intel microprocessor based computer. It provides Windows XP, Pentium IV Dual Core, based nodes each with 2 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard hard dist, Flat Screen TFT Moniotors connected to three windows NT Servers, Unix Server, Proxy Sever, Pentium IV Dual Core, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Disk, Laser Printers, Data Projector, Scanner, Ink Jet Printers and the peripherals are connected to the network.

Recently we had added a network printer which can print, copy, scan, fax etc. The lab also has access to the latest Hi-Fi multimedia used for making presentation. Every student is given the privilege of handling the computers indepedently under proper supervision and guidance, and also of availing overtime whenever necessary. They are provided with unlimited internet time in the laboratory. Professionals from the IT industry conduct seminars regularly and keep the students abreast with the lastest in the industry, apart from the students the computing facility of the lab is utilized for all administrative works of the college also.

LAB

Highly sophisticated research lab has been set by our institution which meets the requirements of the Bangalore University curriculum. The Labs are well equipped with air conditioned tissue culture chamber and advanced models of laminar flow bench, UV-Vis Spectro-photometer, Incubators, Autoclave, Microscopes, Electrophoretic units, Optical instruments, charts, models and other useful instruments to impart and enhance the practical aspects. Such progressive instruments and equipment contribute to the richness and variety of the courses offered by the institute.

The institute has obtained memberships at The British Library, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Library, Indian Institute of Science Library (IISc.,) City Central Library (CCL), The Institute of Engineers (I.E's) and The Bangalore Management Association (BMA) which enable live interaction of the students with the industry professionals and further their awareness of the emerging trends in their respective fields. Moreover, online Library arrangement has been made to facilitate the students of R.K.E.T. Institutions to avail books, Magazines, Journals, etc., which are not available in the library.

IN-HOUSE MAGAZINE:

"PARADIGM" - A bi - monthly In - House magazine is published every year. Articles for the magazine are invited from the students of all disciplines and faculty members. The magazine has different sections on various management concepts, latest developments in all the fields/current affairs, quiz, fun and jokes, crosswords and more. An editorial committee comprising of students and a faculty representative brings out the magazine which is meant for private circulation only.

HOSTEL:

Good Hostel facilities are provided for boy and girls separately. Hygienic food, comfortable lodging with 24 hours water and electricity, recreation and security facilities are provided. The Hostels is in-charge of a strict warden and the students should abide by the rules and regulations of the hostel.

CANTEEN:

The canteen which is located in the college campus provides sumptuous, delicious and hygienic food to all the students, staff and administrative members at concessional rates.

TRANSPORTATION:

The college owns two buses to provide transport facilities to the students and stafffrom various parts of the city to the college campus. They are also used to take students to short industrial visits, study tours, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, symposiums for imparting practical training to the students.

RECREATION AND SPORTS FACILITY:

To promote extra-curricular and sports activities, recreation hall is provided with facilities for the indoor games like chess, carom and table tennis. Sufficiant space for the outdoor games like football, volley ball, basket ball, cricket etc., is also provided. Students are encouraged to participate in the Inter-Collegiate competitions at State and National levels. Excellence in sports and other curricular activities is recognized at the Annual Day of the college by way of merit certificates and prizes. College cricket team has participated in many Inter-University matches.

PLACEMENT AND INTERACTION CELL:

The placement and interaction cell is meaningful platform to the students to step up the corporate ladder. The placement cell is headed by an experienced placement officer who looks after the placement activities and consultancy services. The institute maintains good relations with many Multi-National, National Companies and encourages campus recruitment and placements by providing all the facilities required for conducting interviews and presentations.

Students who successfully complete their course, register their names with the placement cell and avail all the assistance in getting a right job. The institute has tie-up with many reputed institutions and places its students with promising careers. It makes an attractive placement brochure and the placements are scheduled from the 1st week of March every year. Facilities for conducting campus interviews are provided.

Our students have been selected as management trainees in institutions of repute and subsequently have secured jobs in multinational companies and abroad too. So far 920 students have secured good jobs in various organizations in India and abroad.

General Conditions:

  • Fee once paid will not be refunded if the student fails to enroll for the desired course or discontinues the studies.
  • Students will be punished and fined if they indulge or participate in any in-disciplinary activity or violate the rules of the college.
  • Attendance to special lecture classes, seminars and practical work is compulsory and continuous absence without prior permission and valid reason will result in the removal of the name of the student from the rolls.
  • Students should not stand or loiter on the corridors during class hours.
  • A student must produce the Identity Card issued by the College whenever it is demanded by the College officials.
  • Staying in the college hostel is compulsory for out station students.
  • The Principal is headed with the responsibility to take decisions as per the rules in all matters relating to the eligibility for admissions, student discipline, attendance, leave, progress and conduct of the students. But will not be responsible for any frivolous complaints regarding admissions, collection of fees, etc.,
  • No student is allowed to leave a lecture hall without the lecturer's permission.
  • The students should not bring any outsider inside the college campus
  • Students are forbidden to bring firecrackers to the college campus
  • Ragging is a cognizable offence and those who indulge in it even encourage it will be handed over to the police.
  • Boys and Girls are expected to conduct themselves with dignity and maturity in their Inter-Relationship. They must observe norms of decency and propriety.
  • Books, periodicals or paper of an objectionable nature should not be brought into the campus.
  • Students of both Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate courses will be permitted to appear for the University Examinations only if they score a minimum of 75% attendance in their respective course of study and his/her conduct and progress have been satisfactory in the course.
  • The campus must be kept clean at all times. Littering with wrappers, waste paper etc. defacing the walls or desks, damaging college property etc. are offences.
  • The student should not be involved himself/herself in unlawful activities that violates decorum, discipline and dignity of the college.
  • Insubordination, neglect of work, unbecoming language or conduct obscenity in word or deed render a student liable to temporary or permanent dismissal.
  • The student should not go to the media without the prior permission of the Principal.
